*CONFESSION Yesterday I posted and then deleted mockery of CNN for writing “…didn’t use to…” instead of “…didn’t used to…” They were right. I was wrong. I use to know this shit.*
I had to look it up—not that I don’t inherently trust you—it just sounded so wrong—wow! Live and learn (my editor wife says she would’ve had to look it up, so I feel better).
*Yes, motherfucker, they did. I know, because one of their relatives told me. In the skies over Pennsylvania, Americans — including a gay American — did in fact hesitate.
They weren’t sure what to do. They discussed and debated. They tried to piece together what was known and what wasn’t. And then, amidst an emergency infinitely more dire and immediate than any Trump has used to justify autocracy, what did they do? They voted.*
I hate it when people just open their entire mouth and talk out of both sides at the same time. Where are their manners? Didn’t they ever watch Popeye when they were kids? Keep one half of your mouth closed and talk only out of the other or you’ll be shunned by polite society.
I got a bit of a giggle when a reporter asked Trump if he was OK after the murder of his close friend and his response was yes, have you seen all the trucks out there that are building my big beautiful new ballroom?
Oh, I noticed the racism IMMEDIATELY in CK’s last words. What’s more racist than conflating mass shootings with gang violence? Not much.
It’s really annoying seeing people talk about what a great debater he was. Deflection via racism and othering isn’t a mark of masterful debating skills.
Uh-oh, my Dad (RIP) would say contradictory things when he was descending into severe dementia. Also during that period, he did a lot of confabulation.
Trump is the grumpy ignorant racist patriarch at the head of the Thanksgiving table. Pounding and shouting about those blacks, they’re killers, those damn immigrants, poisoning the blood of our country, and those fancy Ivy League schools think they’re so great, the feminists not having white children, etc. Angry grievances and plenty of Americans saying Yeah! And he’s going to FIX AMERICAN SOCIETY!! Send migrants back where they came from, get them off the farms and out of the slaughter houses because those are black jobs, ban Muslims, get black criminals and gangs off the streets and in jail, etc. Impose high tariffs so factories will be built for American workers. That’s it! That’s Trump agenda. And it’s ridiculous and futile and he’s an idiot and not helping Americans have a better future, better jobs, good education, health insurance etc. He’s a disaster in over his head and he doesn’t even know it.
To be clear: Charlie Kirk was not "open to debate."
He traveled the country staging asymmetrical "debates" in the form of speaking appearances with no moderator, where he held the floor, took questions from the audience, and always gave himself the last word. Then he posted edited versions of these "debates" on his channel that made him invariably the "winner."
The whole thing was a setup. These were no more "debates" than the call-in shows on right-wing radio are "debates." They were, in effect, the exact same format.
I recently watched a portion of a debate on YouTube featuring Kirk at Cambridge University in England, where he debated several students.
One student stood out with his crazy long hair and seemed like an easy target. However, he turned out to be an exceptionally skilled debater, ultimately leaving Kirk struggling to respond.
You can check it out starting at the 1:20:00 mark (one hour and twenty minutes into the video), where he delivers a remarkable point and drops the mic at 1:33:30. I recommend sticking around for Kirk's short, lamely unconvincing reply afterward.

Fucking GREAT reporting, Jonathan, then and now.
*Kirk Remembered in Gaslight Vigils*
Soo good!

I see you
*a man with a bionic arm. Police are expected to offer a $6 million reward.*
Noice! Majorsly funny!
*jackboot-shit*
So good…
*but possibly literally, too, as one side of his face appeared desperate to escape.*
A stroke of comedic brilliance.

Know what stops a bad guy with a gun?
Not being able to get a gun.
Let's keep in mind, "guns don't kill people, people WITH guns kill people!"
I've been hearing butwuddabout the gang violence since Trayvon Martin at least. Yeah, I noticed
My Puerto Rican mother in law used to say of him and other narcissistic, racist, douchebags (douchebags is my term)
‘He talks out of both sides of his neck’.

Fair, and worth noting. Thank you. I do know he also participated in more level-playing-field events with some leftie pundits.
