Both of the state approved, sham political parties in the US are owned by essentially the same corporate and oligarch donors. That people act surprised when Democrats clearly prove this, time after time and that they are fake, paid opposition, is what truly surprises me. The US is an oligarchy and has been for decades.
“They … prove their age by correctly identifying Paul Lynde or Charles Nelson Reilly.” had me laughing out loud. The rest of the article has me fuming. NY needs to shitcan both their Republican-lite senators, first chance they get!
Corporate Reagan Democrat gillibrand is the one who led the charge to have moderate Al Franken leave the Senate. I'm not a fan of centrism. Centrist Al Franken at the time was one of the few Democrats willing to go Toe to Toe with right-wing BS and gillibrand politically didn't like him in my opinion. And I have no problem believing a corporate Reagan Democrat cared more about their donors and the wealth of the corporate leaders more than fighting the Nazis. As I've said for four decades, the Reagan Democrat establishment are spineless complicit appeasers and always have been.
I've been disgusted with that phony Gillibrand since the Al Franken debacle she led. But frankly have heard or read very little about her in recent years, until now. But in any case, now that you've brought the spotlight back on this POS, I can publicly say that the only question remaining is whether it's head-first of feet-first into the woodchipper.
First of all, Jonathan, we KNOW that you are both trying to do your part as the father of a rising college freshman AND working mightily to sort through the tidal wave of outrages coming further inshore every day. Hats off to you; it can't possibly be easy. Secondly, if indeed Kristen Gillibrand, who BTW we probably need to remain in the Senate given the consequences of her being replaced by a de facto Republican, did support the approval of the gov't funding bill, joining our Senator John Fetterman whose response to my letter objecting to his stance included the info that IHHO the potential for people losing or delaying their benefit checks here in PA outweighed the risks of postponing a real fight until this September, we need to look more closely to her affiliation with and support by Wall Street and other corporate actors. This is the hidden cancer that has eaten away the guts of too many of our elected reps, and if we fail to address the power of dark money and related superPACs upon our electoral process we are doomed. Period. First, we somehow nuke Trump and his cult, second we go after the really dangerous bad actors.
Regarding the Tesla boycott from now till eternity...
I had a call yesterday with a company who I purchased my solar panel system from, getting information for battery backup storage. The rep informed me of 2 companies they get these battery storage units from...Franklin and Tesla. Then she asked me if I have a preference of companies, seeing that she's had customers with strong views on them. I said "Tesla? Oh hell no!" We had a talk about that situation and agreed that we still have a voice...with our wallets. She went on to say that between these 2 companies, Franklin is the better choice, one unit can store more kw and has better reviews all around, while being at a competitive price. I thought it was an interesting conversation.
If what you perceive is true, then Schumer is a worse politician than I thought. Selling out the all the protestors and the entire Democratic Party to cover fir Gillibrand is not tragic, it is betrayal. I have always thought that Nancy was Chuck’s backbone and that be has been rudderless since she stepped down. And we also need to remember that Gilliband was the leader of the gang that made Al Franken leave the senate. It seems to me that when push comes to shove, she supports the things that will weaken the Dems. Perhaps I don’t remember all she had done but that is my impression of her. Chuck needs to step down from leadership. Both need to be primaried. I have very little faith in the senate election fund; it seems to be used mostly to reelected members and not to help others, even open seats. I admit I that I am biased.
I have no interest in considering Schumer’s actions as noble. As for Gillibrand, she was responsible for Democrats losing a good senator, Al Franken. New York gives us 2 feckless leaders, Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer. We are in fact in a war. TODAY is the birthday of Neville Chamberlain. His spirit lives in these appeasers.
While I will watch this develop with curiosity and ready/willing to call a spade a spade as the truth comes out (i.e. Gillibrand pivotal role?), caution should prevail.....as much as I want/need to know the facts, somehow women get blamed way more often than men...I'm not letting her off the hook, but who is now spinning these emerging details?? I don't know the answer....but am pretty sure, Schumer would sell his mother out on a dime
It always comes down to money with our elected "leaders". Greed enables the Oligarchy. There isn't enough shame to heap on the likes of Gillibrand, Schumer, et al.
^ This. Unfortunately it's spot on. Why are people still surprised when the Democrats continually prove that they are fake, paid opposition? Especially when they are owned by the same oligarch and corporate donors.

But WHY would he be covering for her - unless he agreed?
You don’t ‘cover’ for somebody arguing for something you oppose. Especially not when it does immense harm to the caucus you’re supposed to be leading

Gillibrand has always seemed like a loser. She might as well declare herself a MAGA Republican.

We have to have a platform and a leader. The courts need us in the streets. You thought there were only 3, but we are the 4th branch of this government. March on DC! https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/a-just-movement?r=3m1bs
