‘The term “pseudo-left” denotes political tendencies that utilize democratic and populist phraseology to advance the interests of privileged sections of the upper middle class and defend capitalism against socialist revolution. There are many representatives of this politically reactionary tendency internationally, including the Democratic Socialists of America in the US, the Left Party in Germany, the Socialist Workers Party in Britain, Socialist Alternative in Australia, the New Anti-Capitalist Party in France, Podemos in Spain, Syriza in Greece, and the NSSP in Sri Lanka.’
I think kids get it, that they see beyond tactical bullshit. I think they recognize real leadership (sooner or later) & respect people that aren't afraid to give 'em hell. They might not remember a time when honest work paid off the way it should, but that spirit of dignity & freedom is who we are. I don't know WHAT the hell this is now, but yeah, be Progressive & work for a more perfect union. Not the sadomasochistic codependency that these sick shits are pushing, a place where we keep each other safe & all bring our strengths to the table. That's the smart thing to do.
Jon, this was tragically beautiful. Tragic because our party, Dems, have dithered about trying to win trump voters by appeasement. Tough on crime! Tough on immigration! But in their messaging, they couldn't turn the "others" into a group you'd want to eliminate or kill the way trump does. That was Hitler's secret sauce. And that's what trump is doing. Appeasement never got us anywhere. Especially with these ghouls that actually want to see people die.
Yep. I am done with the so called centrist or as I call them the corporate democrats. We have a couple here in Nevada who we need to upgrade or make them wake up. I was a so called moderate years ago, not anymore. I can read!!!!
I don't think that Bernie can be the catalyst that kicks this whole thing off. There is a reckoning coming that can't be denied. It's been pre-ordained and has been coming down the tracks for some time. My partner made her choice to support him. Now she is in jeopardy of losing her disability, retirement and the like. I just stay quiet, because when she blows, the ignorant statements, anger, hate and day drinking are right there. I don't drink. I have been clean and sober for a little over 2 years now. Im glad to have my own back in life. I can't rely on her to be "there" if needed. I'm 62 years old now, and my insight has never been more important than it is now. Trust your instincts. They will come, hat in hand and chock full of I'm sorrys, I was mislead or some other apologist bullshit. How you respond is key. If he is given any wiggle room, he will do all he can to make things worse.
It's not every day an author on Substack reminds me of Churchill:
"We shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."
"Centrist Democrats argue that Harris lost due to the popularity of some Trump policies: Anti-inflation, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ+. Progressives, meanwhile, argue that Democrats weren’t far enough to the left on economic issues."
You're leaving out the third argument: THE DEMOCRATS WERE VERY GOOD LEFT AND GOT NO FUCKING CREDIT FOR IT FROM PEOPLE WHO SAID THEY CARED.
People might not be wondering why food company profits are so high, but they damn sure wonder why their groceries are so expensive. They might not care about corporate landlords using a third-party app to collude on prices, but they're pissed that their rent takes so much of their paychecks and keeps going up. It's complicated trying to explain that private equity firms have rolled up all the manufacturers of firetrucks, but if you can name the companies and say, "these assholes are part of why fire departments weren't able to keep all of those buildings from burning down," it makes it a little easier. Also, given how people reacted to Luigi, I feel like there is definitely some rage at the billionaires and CEOs at the top.
Hard agree. Part of the problem is that we've allowed our systems to be complexified, which serves the goal of obscuring how we get ripped off. Which makes it hard to undo. Thank you.

Is it too late?
Apologies for rambling.
Bernie is a national treasure!

The bottom line is that Musk HAS GOT TO GO, NOW.
And then what about the rest of the rotten stinking cabinet?

Give 'em hell, Jonny!
FUCK this is well written. Beautiful. May it move the needle somewhere, somehow… please!
Thank you, Beth!
No, no more BS.
I suspect you just read the headline.
This excellent piece deserves a better headline.
Open to suggestions!
Turning away just because Bernie is mentioned is part of the problem. Kinda the subtext of the piece.

Oh sorry, was I yelling?
A fight for the future!!!! YES!!!
