> Figure out effective ways to raise ideas that will be poorly received in their honest form!
I agree. Humor seems to be the most effective way of informing and changing minds. I guess it relaxes the brain and lowers our natural defenses to being told something which contradicts our simulation of the world that we all have running inside our heads.
I deleted my Twitter account and moved to Bluesky. So far, so good. AI generated comments is a huge problem going forward for social media. Can no longer assume you are conversing with a human. You may be conversing with a server farm in Russia.
Eh, most people just want to lay some text or a picture down and agree with others.
I don't think most people are (I'm not at least) looking for debate or broadening horizons on social media. Drive-by disagreements just make me want to peace out anyways.
And I really HOPE that not too many people are looking for facts and data on X or Bluesky. If you ever see something, verify the heck out of it, or disregard it completely.
I have to agree with this. Some arguments are settled, and I don't like the idea of letting the right pretend otherwise.
I can totally get on board with trying to get a real answer from a troll by asking them a question that shows interest in what would make their life better, but I'm not debating. Online debate doesn't move the needle.
“…centrist Democrats often go wooing those who don’t support them, thereby betraying those who do."
Sir, this feels targeted. Good. Our leaders need to recognize where they fucked up. And then not do that again next time.
This is excellent, Jonathan. You rock.

Excellent commentary. Thank you.
“Ignore converts.” Don’t make the Cheneys your A-team players. They never showed up for practices.
Lot of Clashing arguments here. Joe Strummer is dead.

You gotta respect and listen everyone's beliefs and thoughts.
NO, YOU DONT.
That's what gets us in trouble.
You can acknowledge everyone's beliefs and thoughts.
And then reserve the right to say,
"That's fucking stupid, are you kidding me?"

Nope. And the trolls don’t understand how to engage in discourse. They just revert to ad hominem attacks. Fuck ‘em.
