We really should find out who put him up to it and helped him. I don’t think he acted alone. I also don’t think his big flashy clues are clues that point to the actual factual motive. But they buy great cover now, don’t they?
We can only write so many letters to CEOs and politicians. We can only resubmit so many forms, make so many phone calls, beg so many administrators.
I’m not condoning vigilante actions. I wish the young man who shot that gun DID have other options THAT WOULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE, or change his situation (assuming he or a loved one was denied critical medical care).
The fact that the shooter has not been apprehended indicates a (relatively) rational mind: a lot of planning/thinking clearly occurred. Even assuming a turmoil of emotion, I believe his decision to write on those bullets and fire that gun was made with a sound mind and after exhausting all other attempts at fair resolution.
The right-wing finger-wagging on this is hilarious. The same people joking about Paul Pelosi getting attacked with a hammer are now really concerned about decorum around this executive whose policies spread misery.
It sounds like the red hats are worried that their left-wing children really mean the whole "no contact" thing.
The thing is? My right wing coworkers and I finally agree on something. Murder is evil, but I can’t muster much sympathy for someone who is actively squeezing every ounce of profit from a vital necessity while making healthcare harder to access.
Anyone complaining about my inhumanity, 'kay. Bet you never had a family member denied coverage for chemotherapy FOR MONTHS and when finally approved IT WAS TOO FUCKING LATE. But whatever 🙄 😒 I'm glad there's so many in agreement. If you saw something, NO YOU FUCKING DIDN'T.
Well said. Perhaps this is the beginning of a sort of revolution or social upheaval. There WILL be a day or an event that will set big changes in motion.
Your comment was very well reasoned. I’ve had many years in my life where I had no health insurance because I freelanced and couldn’t afford it. That was pre-Obamacare. I was grateful beyond words when I qualified for Medicare. And I’m worried to death about it and Social Security under the coming administration. Healthcare in this country is genuinely screwed up. I wasn’t sad about that repulsive guy’s death either. If he had been worried about being liked, he would have worked in a different business. Instead he chose to do exactly the opposite. I just don’t see why we should care when clearly, he didn’t.
Ditto, Saralyn. It will be the end for me (and many, many more of us) if/when Medicare and SS go. $216/mo. retirement won't cut it. Unless they take that, too.
Is this an opportunity to address our broken health care system? Certainly data has been published that exposes the suckiness of our healthcare. Surprisingly no politician has yet to say this is not the time to address this as is done in school shootings. What makes this shooting more relevant then the other shooting occurring on same day or today? This tragedy brings to the forefront the tragedy of all those that die as a result of our failed health care system. Address the root cause not adding more CEO security.
I can’t help but feel like this is a Robin Hood type situation. The institutions that were supposed to keep these fat cats in check failed repeatedly and turned their backs on the people. They have stolen countless lives for profit. WE the PEOPLE have spoken.
I hold that _just this sort of thing_ needs to happen again and again and again, removing in an exemplary way the most egregious examples of exploitation and callous indifference throughout ultra-privileged society. The message must be sent: You Do Not Live and Act With Impunity, After All.
The released pictures all show different faces. The hostel one showed a young man with a chill vibe and sandy hair, regular eyebrows, and an olive hoodie. There's another floating around that shows a blank faced dude in a black hoody in what appears to be a parking garage. Now this pic with an intense dude in a black hoody with tarantula eyebrows. They can't all be the same dudes.
I appreciate your reasoning of the apathetic reactions of folks and the desire to not help police find the guy. It's the most logical explanation I've seen and it put into words my feelings on the matter.
'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin' 'I'm the assassin'
A revolution starts with a single shot. Aren't I so sage? 🙄Actually that's probably already been said before. I don't even know if it's true. What I do know is I feel no sympathy for Brian Thompson or other fat catz like him, but I do feel immense empathy and sorrow for all the sick and terminally ill people who are denied the treatment they need becuz of the mighty buck.
Wednesday is coming soon...
Who is the lucky illionaire this week?
Too bad it wasn't him shooting at Insane Clown at that Butler PA rally.
Typically there are no good guys with guns. Or pens these days either.
We really should find out who put him up to it and helped him. I don’t think he acted alone. I also don’t think his big flashy clues are clues that point to the actual factual motive. But they buy great cover now, don’t they?
I’m not trying to buttress the problem buddy.
You do you
To buy them a drink? Who cares why someone takes out the garbage?

What. Else. Can. People. Do.

Thank you for covering this healthcare [sic] situation sensitively and substantively 🙏🏼
Not to pile on, which would be unseemly, but--
Perhaps one should pay heed to Kneecap Eddie's admonition that running a protection racket carries certain occupational hazards.
