Seth Meyers has frequently noted that republicans are weird; as have I. Many of the local Magats ARE weird with that angry/broken edge to it that suggests cruelty despite their comfortable lives.

I think Harris should make one of her primary criticisms of Trump the fact that he cannot be trusted with national secrets.

Marketing may be responsible for getting people to buy things they might not really want. On the other hand, marketing is also packaging an idea such that the intended audience understands and agrees with it. For the last few generations Democrats have been very bad at this for a long time, and I'm glad to see them get back into it properly. FDR knew how to market his ideas; he could say the word "Republican" and get a laugh from the audience. There is no reason why progressive ideas can't be reduced to bumper-sticker format, jokes, and pointed digs; save the sincere laundry-list version for those who really want to read it. We've got some weird political opponents to expose and make fun of.
