Bravo, well said, also don’t like the ‘corporations as people’ line of reasoning. Total transparency- no anonymous donations, just because!!!

Thank you, Janet.

Yep. Until corporations can get life in prison or the death penalty for their crimes, they are not people.

Getting the rights of people without being open to the possibility of the same responsibilities and penalties is asinine.

SCOTUS has been corrupt since 2000 when they overturned a free and fair election. And the spineless, cowardly Democrats just let it go🤬 SCOTUS is also responsible for the "corporations are people" entitled to free speech bullshit. Again the Dems were silent. I voted for Democrats because I thought they would actually WORK FOR US. Apparently I was mistaken. They had 50 fucking years to codify Roe and never managed to get it done🧐 We still don't have universal healthcare. The minimum wage still sits at $7.25. Who the hell are they working for? Never mind I already know. They work for their corporate masters.

I hear you and have yelled similar...but I also think there's a danger in succumbing to cynicism if we paint with too broad a brush. Don't let me lose you, Jasmine!!!

Honestly, I'm terrified. There's a massive fuck ton of money available and a lot of people working to install Trump. Roger Stone instigated the Brooks Brothers riot, SCOTUS ordered the count halted🤬 Nobody said boo. They OVERTURNED a free and fair election! They got away with it. They absolutely will try it again😬 What have they got to lose? All of the Jan. 6th coup attempt are STILL FREE. They've had almost 4 years to regroup, learn from their mistakes, and set out a better plan. Ford pardoning Nixon to "protect the institution" put us on this path. Letting Reagan, both Shrubs, Kissinger, Dick Cheney, and all the corrupt Wall Street bankers go unpunished for their crimes pushed us right along. Yes many people are above the law. The worst part, we were walked right into this nightmare😔

Instead of going after Fauci the GOP House members should reopen the Benghazi investigation. Lock Her Up!

You said you might be beat up for this,

"but I’m less sure personally that their rulings on campaign finance were wrong"

so here goes...

I'm not sure which part of the campaign finance rulings you are referring to, but my biggest gripe (well, one of my biggest gripes) about this topic is the 'corporations are people' bs. Yes, corporations are made up of people - who all have their own opinions about politics. But to say a corporation IS a person (and, of course, only to get it to go under the 1st amendment) is a total lie. When was the last time you saw a corporation voting in a voting booth???

My other gripe is allowing ANY campaign donations to be anonymous. WHY? Why are you hiding your identity???

I certainly disagree with the corporations are people thing! It's a weird cohort that says some people can't be different kinds of people, but microscopic cell clusters are definitely people and so are legal fictions.

Don't tempt them. There was some township or something like that on the east coast (Maine or Massachusetts, maybe?) that was going to hold a voter referendum on letting LLCs vote in their elections.

WTF.

I SO agree with this!!!

Also, as I understand it, corporations have been granted the same *rights* as individuals, but is there any sort of concurrent *responsibility* to balance said rights?
