Our politics have been shit for a long time, possibly since the start of ours or any country. The 24/7 media needing to justify its existence after it was decided that “for the public good” was no longer a good enough reason to exist and that it really needed to generate profit accelerated the decline exponentially. They’re the debauched guardians that are why we can’t have nice things.

I will say, I wish the profit motive mattered MORE! No coincidence they're dying AND obsessing over shit that affects no one.

Re the growth in Harris support, I do wonder how much of it comes from people who thought "again with the same two old white guys who were probably too old last time and now definitely are? I'm done with this." Given the alternative of a {for politics, relatively) young woman, they might go "Okay I can behind that." But I think it more came from undecideds who were going "Yeah, I'd rather Biden but, y'know, the age 'n' stuff, so I dunno."

I suspect you’re right and this is a huge factor.

Which is terrifying and an indictment of our media and politics and us.

That really was a buzz kill, but even so I’m still high on Kamala vibes! It would be a real bummer if the anti trust work stopped though. Who do I tell that I care about this? She’s not coming here- I live in safe old Oregon, reliably blue since forever.

Thank you for raising the issue and keeping me informed, even if I am giddy with excitement 🤪

Stay giddy! Defend the buzz! Cherish them…even as you urge her to keep anti-trust efforts vigorous. Best way to do that is just to be online and raise awareness of it. Throw that TFN link at people and let ‘em know you’re all in for Harris and really hope to see her ramp up anti-trust efforts!

I do not care about Harris’s policies today. I only care that she isn’t Trump and apparently I’m not alone. I’m a veteran, was a Bernie delegate to the Nevada Democratic Convention fuckeroo and I’m an Luddite (read Blood in the Machine) loving account. I care about a lot of things but mostly I care that Donald Trump never gets close to the White House again. I’m going to spend all of my energy getting Harris elected and Trump buried. Then we can worry about policy trust me it’s not gonna be worse than Trump’s. Love your work.

Thank you! I do tend to think, though, that pressure after the election is markedly less effective than pressure beforehand. I get the commitment to oppose Trump unconditionally, but that's not mutually exclusive of letting the Harris campaign know what you want. In fact, that'll HELP the Harris campaign gauge what EVERYONE wants...which may help them win!

1. Friends can have different ideas about… anything.

2. We just have a different idea about what will help Harris/Walz win. You think more policy information will help and in this particular case I don’t.

3. You could be right.

4. So could I.

5. Having more information about Tim W made you mad about him saying normal politician shit.

6. If they harden up positions, the “narcissism of small differences” clubs will show up and start “negotiating” and burning up time money and goodwill that could be used by the candidates instead of getting out the vote and throat punching oligarchs. Which is what I think we all should be doing. This is not a normal election.

7. I do care about policy and in order 1)saving the biosphere so this stupid species I belong to can continue living here and 2) helping us figure out how to live together with the same assholes on top of the pyramid cutting people’s hearts out. Neoliberalism isn’t the way, but there’s a long way to go before Team USA gives that shit up. I would love to nationalize SpaceX, Google and break up the tech, healthcare, insurance and monopolies and fuck private banks. Not happening in my lifetime.

8. Keep doing the good work you.

I also started reading your work on TYT and consider TFN as indispensable reading. It is the first, and usually far and away the best thing I read each weekday. Thank you!

Thanks, Jerry! That's so lovely and terrifying to hear! (If I'm the best, we need better bests!) Thanks so much for posting this.
