Thank you for your honesty about Kris Kristofferson - not pretending you knew him but gave us how he figured in your life and that if only for his very great turn w/ Sinead O'Conner you loved. . . you still have plenty of time to appreciate him.
Not far away on Highway 70, hundreds of people lined up outside the Pisgah Brewing Company with jugs and bottles in hand, waiting for water that has been so hard to find. Nearby, someone discovered that an 18-wheeler wrecked during the storm was full of bottled water, and dozens of people came to grab cases and hand out cases to others, until police officers arrived and shouted for them to leave.
“You are stealing!” one shouted as the crowd dispersed.
Doesn’t seem Christian to me. I’m sure the company will collect from their insurance for the full value of the water that was in the truck whether they salvaged some or not.
Excellent work, thank you. Special thanks for the appreciation of Kris Kristofferson’s support of Sinead O’Connor. I’ve always been a fan of hers, and I watched that clip a few months ago of him standing up for her at that performance. I admired his sense of honor and decency in recognizing what was actually true, out loud, in front of that triggered, hostile crowd. He was a good person, standing up for others when it wasn’t easy- like Sinead had been doing. Thanks again-
I live in upstate SC and was without power for 2 1/2 days. Still no internet so no TV watching yet. To hear that *rump mentions Alabama and not ones that were actually affected (NC was devastated) is disgusting but par for the course (pun intended). Of course we know how he always wants to put AL in the path 😉
So sorry for what you've gone through, Karen! For what it's worth, Trump DID mention the other affected states by name before Alabama. The Harris campaign didn't include that part, I'm assuming for brevity. And, yeah, I tried to figure out a way to jam a Sharpie in there! Good luck with your community recovering and thanks for sharing!
We mapped the impact of Hurricane Helene with data from the National Weather Service. The flooded congressional districts were overlaid with the Republicans who voted against President Biden's Infrastructure bill that strengthened dams, bridges and roads. And the Senators who recently did not vote to fund FEMA (including JD Vance, Rick Scott and Josh Hawley)... makes i easier to know who to hold them accountable.
Home flooded by a dam break? Remember Who Voted Against Investing In Infrastructure.

It's just a matter of time until each of us gets to star in a remake of Les Miz.

I loved all of the Musk analogy!
