I do so wish people would masturbate in the privacy of their own homes and not spray his ridiculous jizz over the air-pixels.

The elephant in the room, BIG DONORS, they expect a return on their investment. Already one donor contributed $7 million to fire Lina Khan. If Harris elected and she does not fire Lina Khan, that is a sign of direction she is headed. Will Corporate Democrats in Congress, the majority, be willing to wash their hands of donor money? Possibly their constituents can help them see the light. If we want good things we need to fight for it, real change does not end after voting.

In the words of another California politician: "If you can't eat their food, drink their booze, screw their women, take their money and then vote against them, you have no business being up here."

Never heard that before. Terrifying.

Thanks again for a perspective (with context) I don't see in many other places.

Also, goddamn Texas, man. May I say that Ken Paxton, in addition to his stunning ignorance, is one of the nastiest and least attractive humans on earth.

Man, Jonathan, you got that right. She's trying - and so far succeeding -- in playing both ends. Trying to coopt the 'normie' Republicans and isolate the MAGA base while keeping her policy talk as nondescript as possible. At the DNC, there was little talk of climate change, police reform, reparations, fracking, extension of Obamacare, tax reform......AOC and Warren were left to early nights, while GOP crossovers and Blue Dogs dominated the big Thursday.

Can she run the table with black, hispanic and young voters without really promising anything? Dunno, but that's what she's clearly trying to do.

Still, to beat Trump, she's got a FAR better chance invigorating the left to get up and vote than praying that a few Republicans are going to find a conscience, even for a minute. That's what's mattered in the last 6 elections, and I expect it's what will matter this time, too.

Meanwhile, she's got 'em all bamboozled - and her new found cultural 'star power' and 'vibe' has been all she's needed. I HOPE IT STAYS THAT WAY !!!

Thanks, Dan! I can't say I'm sure she's trying to play both ends. But as Pelosi said, she's an astute politician...

I'm hoping. After like 40 years of neoliberal "New Democrats", Biden started moving the party back to where it should be. While I'm not expecting the second coming of FDR, I'm hoping she continues is this direction. Isn't it about time for Pelosi and her ideological ilk to retire?

When did providing health care, education and other basic services become "progressive," "leftist," and "socialist?" It seems that only a decade or so ago, these were centrist ideas shared by both parties. Now the conservative side of the spectrum sees these as nothing more than costs with no inherent value, It is almost as if the political right wants to create an underclass that does not have access to quality health care, a good education and decent food and shelter. I genuinely thought we as a nation ended that in the mid-1800s. Yet, here we are again with the upper class wanting to shirk their responsibility to the overall society in exchange for lower taxes and an underpaid workforce. This is precisely why ee tossed the tea in to the harbor, so to speak.

Pretty sure some politicians were warning decades ago that anything that helped the people would be labeled "socialism." Anyone recall who said it? Could it've been Ike?

I am not sure if it was Eisenhower, but McCarthy and his pal Richard Nixon certainly did and when Nixon was president, he was fairly loose with labeling social welfare programs like Medicare and such as "socialism." Ironically, Nixon also helped create the EPA.

Republicans want freedom from paying taxes, so anything that comes from the government is considered socialist in their book. Since the rabble certainly doesn’t want to help “those other” people, they agree. 😡😡

A time honored strategy, passed down in the USA from white slave owners. You must prevent alliance between the white rabble and the rest of the underclass.
