Trump Agrees: Harris’s Husband Is “A Crappy Jew”

Pres. Donald Trump yesterday ramped up his campaign to rally Democrats around Vice President Kamala Harris.

Pres. Joe Biden has alienated some Jewish and Palestinian-American voters by walking a line between supporting Israel and not supporting wanton destruction and tens of thousands of Palestinian civilian fatalities. Although aligned with Biden on policy, Harris has wielded stronger rhetoric in sympathy with Gaza.

But yesterday, on a radio show, Trump did his best to remind Jewish voters that their religious legitimacy in his eyes is determined by how they vote. He starts off by attacking Harris. But then can’t help himself when the interviewer takes aim at her husband.

“She dislikes Jewish people and Israel more than Biden did,” Trump says. “And Biden never did anything and neither did Obama. Never did—and you know the amazing thing is that the Palestinians hate him, also.”

Polling actually showed that Jewish voters overwhelmingly preferred Biden to Trump. Biden wasn’t in the latest polling of Arab-American voters, but Harris was. She had the support of only 27% of respondents…13 times more than Trump got. (Who had the most support? Hint, it wasn’t RFK, Jr.!)

Trump riffed on how Biden is disliked by the two groups (who dislike Trump more) and then said:

“Any Jewish person that voted for her or him or whoever it’s gonna be, I assume it’s gonna be her, anybody who did that is–should have their head examined.”

Soon, the host, Sid Rosenberg, chimed in. Here’s the exchange:

Rosenberg: “They tell me that this, uh, this Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, Mr. President, is Jewish. He’s Jewish like Bernie Sanders is Jewish. Are you kidding me? He’s a [Trump: “Yeah”] crappy Jew.”
Trump: “Yeah.”
Rosenberg: “He’s a horrible Jew.”
Trump: [Crickets].

During the same discussion, Trump weighed in on the highest-ranking Jewish person in U.S. political history: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). “Schumer has become a Palestinian. Chuck Schumer is officially now a Palestinian.”

Schumer didn’t respond. But the Harris campaign did. Spokesperson James Singer told Politico that “America is better than the fear, hate, and despicable insults of Donald Trump.” Which, maybe!

It’s worth noting that Trump chose to go on Rosenberg’s show in the first place. Rosenberg’s record as a broadcaster includes the following:

Called Serena and Venus Williams “disgusting” and “boys”
Called Venus an “animal”
Said that Serena had a better shot at posing for National Geographic than Playboy
Said that “faggots play tennis”
Called female soccer players “juiced up dykes”
Called Palestinians “stinking animals” and said “drop the bomb right there, kill 'em all right now."
After Kylie Minogue’s breast cancer diagnosis said she “won't look so pretty when she's bald with one tit."

~~Despite~~ Because of his record, Rosenberg was hired and continues to be employed by WABC Radio, which is owned by John Catsimatidis, who also owns the Gristedes and D’Agostino supermarkets New Yorkers might want to consider becoming less familiar with.

That’s whose show Trump chose to appear on yesterday, agreeing that Emhoff is “a crappy Jew.” Silent on whether Emhoff is “a horrible Jew.”

I’ve reported before on how Trump’s relationship with Israel and Jewish voters is almost entirely transactional. He moved the U.S. embassy in Israel to (successfully) court Christian evangelicals who see that as a piece of prophecy.

And though I too often find myself resisting overly determinative interpretations of what passes for Trump’s rhetoric, yesterday was no aberration.

At a rally last week, about Harris: “She’s totally against the Jewish people.”

The undercurrent here is the idea that religious identity is subordinate to political loyalty. That Jewishness — or any other identity, because Trump doesn’t limit this approach to Jews — is legitimate only when aligned with Trumpishness.

Meaning, of course, that your identity as a Jewish or any other kind of person is secure and protected only as long as its lashed to and in service of Trump. You’ve got to show your papers to prove you’re the right kind of Jews.

Because if not, your Jewishness is illegitimate and just like that Trump can demote you to Palestinian.

Harris Is Alone on the DNC Ballot

Vice President Kamala Harris is the only candidate to qualify for the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) balloting for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

Delegates to the Democratic National Convention (also DNC I guess?) start voting tomorrow and choose their nominee (Harris) by Monday. Candidates needed 300 delegate signatures to make it onto the DNC ballot. Three other candidates filed to run, but fell short of 300 signatures.

Meaning, the Democratic Party will have one candidate on its democratic ballot for the fight to save democracy. As I’ve said before, Harris would’ve looked a lot better fighting a real battle against legitimate contenders. Democratic Party anti-democratic tendencies came thisclose to sending a weakening Pres. Joe Biden into battle against Donald Trump in November and nothing’s even being talked about to democratize the Democrats.

ENDORSEMENT The United Auto Workers (UAW) union reportedly is expected to endorse Harris “in the coming days,” because endorsing her in the past would violate the laws of physics.

UAW President Shawn Fain reportedly was not happy with Biden’s debate performance, or Biden’s responsiveness to Fain afterwards. But Fain has also called Biden “the best president of my lifetime,” so whatever grumpies Fain may have had about the debate don’t seem likely to cast a shadow over the UAW’s organizing for Harris.

Project 2025: We’re Hiring!

Project 2025 — the massive plan for how to subvert democracy and government institutions in the event of a Donald Trump victory, to usher in a piquant blend of autocracy and theocracy — is on the hunt for a new director. Could this be you?!?

As of this morning, Paul Dans was still listed as the Heritage Foundation’s “Director, 2025 Presidential Transition Project,” but according to multiple reports last night, he’s now been transitioned out of that transition project.

It’s not clear whether Dans chose to be part of this personal transition project, but former Trump hasn’t sounded thrilled about Dans’s performance. In one performance review, Trump declared Dans’s work product “absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.”

Dans had no job security in the role, of course, because his anti-union job is a non-union job.

And the Trump campaign yesterday said in a statement, “Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign — it will not end well for you.”

Nevertheless, the work of making life worse for Americans goes on. Project 2025 may have finished its political/theocratic manifesto, but it’s definitely not demising.

The Heritage Foundation, the home of Project 2025, told CNN that it will continue amassing its inventory of Trump loyalists to fill government positions and not do the work thereof. Of course, with Dans gone, to fill his role of filling government positions, we need a Project 2025 Project 2024.

Hamas: We’re Hiring!

The multinational terrorist group Hamas, a leader in the terror import/export business, has a new opening. A very sudden, albeit not exactly unexpected new opening. Thanks to new openings in the guy who had the job yesterday.

Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was transitioned out of his role at 2am local time this morning, courtesy of an air strike on the building where he was staying in Tehran. Israel did not confirm its role in the new opening, but has been creating Hamas job openings at a feverish pace since Hamas’s disastrous new product launch on Oct. 7.

Hamas and Iran both vowed revenge for Haniyeh’s termination.

Haniyeh was in town for yesterday’s swearing in of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, a (relative) moderate who’s now going to have a hell of a tougher time being (relatively) moderate.

Hezbollah is also actively recruiting for a new commander, after Israel violently created a new job opening for that slot yesterday. An admitted Israeli air strike in Beirut killed Hezbollah commander Fu’ad Shukr, whose project-management skills allegedly included this weekend’s deadly attack in the Golan Heights.

CNN called Israel’s Beirut air strike “the most serious Israeli escalation” with Hezbollah since Hamas escalated everything in October.

Three Quickies

After a crazy-ass rally with Vice President Kamala Harris in Georgia last night, Politico is putting that state back on the map of Democratic maybes.
It’s official. Kari Lake, the consistent winner of multiple Arizona elections that she lost, is the Republican candidate to replace Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), who’s not running again. Lake will face Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), who’s lapped her in fundraising. Recent polls seem to give Gallego a very slight edge. FLASHBACK I reported on how Jesus snuck Lake into the National Prayer Breakfast.
Voters in Maricopa County, AZ, bounced their incumbent Republican county recorder after he refused to lie about the 2020 presidential election. Instead, state Rep. Justin Heap — who’s been coy about the election but happily rode the denial wave to victory — will face Democrat Timothy Stringham in the November general election. Which will determine who counts future votes in Maricopa County.
