I am a paid subscriber to both your publications and I appreciate them very much. If Trump succeeds in overriding the 14th amendment re birthright citizenship will his son Barron be deported? Thank you for Answering this.
I have a couple of things I'd like you to consider reporting on. First, could you please look beyond the most publicly known egregious and outrageous actions? For instance, HR 7 is a bill that was recently introduced that's also right out of P25 and would detrimentally affect every woman. I found out about it on TikTok and promptly wrote my congressman. There's also no mention of Trump asking the person handing him his EO's what they are indicating that Trump is merely a puppet and Vance, who wrote the forward of P25, is the one we should be paying attention to. I believe T is the fall guy.
Second, would you please consider not following the MSM's tactic of shock and awe? When I read the first handful of paragraphs of this article, I thought, "Oh, thank DOG! Finally! An independent journalist who's not going to add to my stress level and insomnia!" But, no. For the rest of the article it was all depressing-as-shit news, seemingly designed to rile us up but give us no information on actions we can take. I see a lot of independent news sources falling into the same trap, the same mire that's part of why I don't follow MSM.
Normally, I love your articles infused with humor that makes me laugh despite the hellscape we're living in. But now, fucking 3 fucking days into T.2, I'm beyond upset. Every piece of news is one more piece of horror, the devastating results of which I can't even contemplate. Knowing that there will be countless lawsuits to try to stop and mitigate the damage the T.2 regime has caused is not much of a balm to my spirit.
Idk. Maybe it's just me and I should opt out of reading the news for awhile. But I do hope you will consider at least looking beyond all the loudest, most obvious distractions to the bills that are being surreptitiously introduced or passed with zero fanfare, like HR 7.
The NY Times headline about fpotus's "Muscular Vision of Presidential Power" is so.... ewwwww.... talk about bending the knee to a narcissistic guy who sells NFT's of him as Superman. It is a surreal world we are inhabiting now. Idiocracy meets Project 2025. Thank you, Jonathan, for pointing out the dangerous absurdities of the fpotus Executive Orders. I hope they all get tied up in court cases that prevent their implementation, from constant lawsuits and appeals. Use the method fpotus employs with his suits - delay and delay over and over.
It's worth noting that the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 says the president can't just refuse to spend monies appropriated by Congress for particular purposes - which is why Tweetie-pie's halting disbursements is very likely illegal. Presidents can request rescissions of spending, but those must be approved by both Houses of Congress within 45 days or they fail.
Every president since then has wanted the law, which puts a limit on their power, to be undone (because of course they did) - but it remains the law.
Finding people with clear standing to sue should prove to be no problem at all.
Thank you for providing a lens through which I can stand to look at this. Except a few excellent writers here on Substack I don’t subscribe to any news papers- and I can’t thank you enough for reading that garbage so I don’t have to. You are a my favorite news and analysis source.
That NYT headline is an example of why I cancelled my subscription yesterday. It wasn’t easy to do as I struggled to hope the paper might find the courage it once had. I no longer believe it will.
“To wit, here’s the top of today’s New York Times front page, treating performative muscularity as if it’s the most important thing about Trump’s actions” So, is Trump a “Drag King” since he smears himself in makeup and wears a flamboyant costume to do his “performative muscularity”?
Amanda Marcotte of Salon described Trump’s look for the inauguration as ‘open casket levels of makeup’ which seems more apt than the enigmatic ‘performative muscularity’ description that the NYT slathered across their front page. Honestly, if Trump were to pardon Hannibal Lecter (yes, the one we all know is a movie character), the NYT would probably describe it as a bold and gutsy move.
I’m a Blue dot in a very red farm state. Every farmer I know is rich. Some very rich. What I don’t see are any Black farmers. Neither rich nor poor. They know not to come here.
Trump voters are beta cucks, though. They love being betrayed, which they take as a sign of their own maverickness and greatness. Trump does whatever he wants because that's how he feels, and that's just like me! Being wrong and destructively hapless is courageous and loyal to America (aka MY Country), which is under grave attack by all the communist p-ssies who have standards, acknowledge other humans, and "know" things.
I don't want all the fluffy speculating MSM is doing right now. I come here for the facts, sir. Thank you for keeping our eyes on the ball. Watching what this orange putz does, not what he
says mostly because I can't stand to hear his whiny-ass voice or look at that stupid orange face.
The lawsuits alone will bring Washington to a standstill.
Something occurred to me as I was reading TFN this morning … the vast majority of these lawsuits will be brought in DC. And what entire district court did Donald just poke in the eye with a fork by pardoning his minions? The DC courts that just spent the last 4 years dealing with these losers and excoriating them with every sentencing decision handed out for both their actions AND their stupidity. I think he is in for a rougher ride than he can possibly imagine.
Trump does not have a mandate for any of his policies. He will overreach domestically, and he has already inherited far too many military commitments, especially in Ukraine and the Middle East. Like all his recent predecessors, he can't wait to provoke China with higher tariffs and ships in the South China Sea. There will be pushback on all these fronts. All of us in the opposition must not succumb to despair. We need to choose our battles carefully and calibrate our responses as we consolidate allies for the struggles ahead.
In fairness, I get a lot of FACTS from the Times...my problem with it is their editorial assessment of how to prioritize and present and pursue those facts. Also, I'm afraid to ask what the alternative source you suggested is...
I will likely miss the facts I used to get from the Times and WaPo - decade-long subscriber. Canceled Times a few weeks ago; canceled WaPo today [as I posted in a comment on a WaPo article, I want FACTS, not RIVETING STORIES]. Now a committed supporter of the Associated Press - hoping for the same facts but less skewing of them. Sadly, the AP seems not to have covered the freezing of aid to Black farmers - I'll check again to see if they do later today or tomorrow .... Too much too fast for every issue to be covered. Bannon's strategy of flooding the zone with bs is working.

Pass the popcorn.
I'll bring the salt!
I already loved you, and I subscribed. Then you drop a Sideshow Bob meme? Be still my newsfucking heart! Best $75 I’ll spend this year 🤜🏼
Thanks. You actually made me feel better today.

HUSTLER BARELY LEGAL is a better news source than the TIMES.
In fairness, I get a lot of FACTS from the Times...my problem with it is their editorial assessment of how to prioritize and present and pursue those facts. Also, I'm afraid to ask what the alternative source you suggested is...
Substitute MAD Magazine
