Oof. “In other words, one of the issues Democrats are willing to work with Trump on is who should be their leaders. As if sidelining Ocasio-Cortez means Republicans won’t target whoever the fuck Democrats make their leaders. There are so many reasons this is wrong but it’s also wrong-headed. It’s the classic pre-surrender, for one thing.”
Nearly half of Republican voters—and their messianic figurehead, Donald Trump—are openly embracing one of the darkest chapters of modern history, endorsing policies that echo the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II or, worse, the grotesque state-led oppression seen in totalitarian regimes. According to a poll—conducted by the nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI)—a staggering 56% of GOP voters support rounding up undocumented immigrants and locking them in military-run detention camps.
This chilling endorsement is not just a reflection of Trump’s authoritarian rhetoric but a damning indictment of his base, a faction increasingly divorced from democratic norms and unbothered by the stench of militarized xenophobia. These voters—claiming the mantle of “patriotism”—apparently believe that tanks and armed soldiers should police their imagined racial purity.
Even Robert P. Jones, the president of PRRI, admitted to feeling a kind of moral nausea at having to ask these questions in the first place, yet here we are. Trump’s playbook of exploiting baseless fear and resentment to target vulnerable populations seems to be working, with his supporters willing to abandon reason, humanity, and basic arithmetic (since there are far fewer undocumented immigrants than Trump falsely claims).
Trump’s ludicrous suggestion of deporting 21 million people—a number he manufactured out of thin air—is as impractical as it is draconian, requiring a network of camps and a military apparatus that reeks of fascist ambition. Worse, this same demographic cheers him on as he hints at using the military not just against immigrants but against his political enemies—activists, journalists, and anyone daring to challenge his authority—whom he ominously calls “the enemy within.”
What does it say about a political party when nearly half its members are comfortable aligning with policies that would necessitate military force, disregard civil liberties, and perpetuate human suffering on an industrial scale? This isn’t just ignorance; it’s a willful embrace of authoritarian cruelty. If these are the policies Trump and his supporters celebrate, then they are not conservatives—they are extremists masquerading as patriots, and they represent a grave threat to the ideals America claims to stand for.
If the tax payers have to pay to deport people & families who live, work and pay taxes here, then how about we just don't pay our own taxes for the four years we have to put up with the crazy clown show? What better way to put a fork in pottypants's plans?
Re Vilsack ceding USDA to Big Ag and the cluster fork over the bird flu. I suppose it shouldn’t be concerning that a large cat sanctuary in Washington State has lost 20 to the flu. Surely cross species effects aren’t real and Tom can continue ignoring public health.
Human, like Trump and all the MaGA Morons are stupid and insane. These delusional twits are brain dead. Building walls and mass deportations will surely fail, enrich the few, and make the nation weaker.

RE: AOC, THIS 73-year old progressive can’t stop wondering why a group with the most (only?) overwhelmingly popular list of proposals has been so successfully demonized by the right, using only the brilliant strategy of yelling “fascists/Marxists/communists”, boys in girls’ sports, post-birth abortions and accusing the RADICAL LEFT, with zero evidence, of doing every horrible thing that, with overwhelming evidence, they themselves actually do.
I dunno…could it be that the vast majority of Americans are intellectually lazy? Inquiring minds want to know.
You’re asking the Democratic Party to step up? The useless fucking Democratic Party? Don’t see, yet? There’s nothing there. We have no party on our side. None.
Is there anyway I can stop paying my taxes as long as they’re being used to buy bombs to drop on Gaza and round up people who should be left alone? I want to pay for roads, healthcare, education, and taking care of people. Can I send my taxes directly to the departments I want to fund?
This whole representative democracy is a great idea that’s being fucked by billionaires.
I have always thought that IRS 1040’s should include a one-page list of proposed uses of their tax dollars by percentage, and that the results should be publicized widely.
They sure as feck can figure out how to pay for deporting poor immigrants but they cant find a way to pay for Medicare for all. Never mind the fact that a good number of the illegal immigrants held a work visa at one time that the corporation never renewed leaving them stranded here.
Honestly when the start rounding them up and deporting them I'm sure there will be a contract or two for privet invests to profit from it while the real taxpayers are footing the bill.
When I started reading Homan's cost of mass deportation at $86 billion, I immediately thought that it should come out of the defense budget! Then I kept reading and you say:
"Because if it’s a national-security vulnerability, then obviously the money should come from the Defense Department!¹"
LOL. I love when we think alike. It makes me feel less crazy.
Hmmm… it’s probably cheaper for me to hide and support a family of these folks than to pay for their deportation. However, I will gladly chip in to send MuskRAT back to South Africa.

…half of that money will end up in his and his buddies pocket
"Sweden is prosecuting two men for war crimes in Sudan, where they allegedly were complicit with troops and militias who killed 12,000 people."
Hopefully the highest that can go is a court substantially less into corporation-fellatio than SCOTUS.

"Drumpf could, in theory, flip once more and champion vaccines."
Right. Via RFK the lesser.
Since when has shitgibbon cared how long he keeps the same person in a cabinet position?

Make more noise about the oil company prosecutions. MSM won’t do that for the normal reasons and somebody must be People’s voice.

Hey Jonathan- thank you for being fucking awesome to read!

Exactly why profit-prison stock went through the roof after the election.
