Hegseth is a Christian?! I guess the bar is pretty low.

I’m reading Atwood’s The Testaments (highly recommend btw) and Pete Hegseth (spelling? Actually don’t care, fuck that guy) REALLY would be a founder of a future Gilead. He is fucking scary, and should be nowhere near any power. Congressional democrats, wear Kevlar if he gets in. That guy is a fanatical lunatic.

I’m not trying to hijack the thread here, but I created a letter for my Louisiana reps/senators, and I encourage you to sign on or use for your state’s reps or Johnson or anyone you wish to send it to. Clearly copy & paste message below, but you get the idea :)

Hi all, I sent a ResistBot email to our useless reps and senators regarding Elon Musk’s outsized influence over our government. I know it’s an uphill battle, but his “ruling from Twitter” on the CR to avoid/approve a shutdown was just plain wrong.

Please consider signing/sending it to your reps in your state.

Musk should be aware that America is not a plaything. It's a complex society with intricate systems, and simplistic solutions won't work effectively. Any actions that threaten the basic necessities of its citizens – food, water, and shelter – will likely trigger significant unrest and resistance.

“Dear Donald Trump, your malfeasance is no longer shocking, but it remains deeply revolting. You campaigned as a champion of the forgotten man, but your actions scream betrayal. You’re not a leader; you’re a masquerading fraud, content to bask in the reflected glow of Elon Musk’s wealth and influence while abandoning the very people who believed in you.”

ELON MUSK’S PUPPET PRESIDENT: HOW TRUMP BECAME A BILLIONAIRE’S MARIONETTE AT AMERICA’S EXPENSE

When a ruthless tech mogul pulls the strings and a so-called populist bows down, America spirals into chaos—leaving red-state voters to pay the price.

Could someone entreat musk to explain himself? I just heard about Germany.

What is his big idea? What is he hoping to accomplish? Is there any admirable or decent outcome he is attempting? Or is it all just rampant greed and power whoring? He is sticking his nose everywhere

Merrick garland should resign in disgrace. His inaction destroyed democracy in America and he needs to be held to serious account

It's a funny headline, regarding a very sad state of affairs. This country has devolved into an unrecognizable country to me.😪

The debt ceiling still confuses me. Not what it does exactly, but why it's fair to remove it. I have a debt ceiling, as do all cc holders, and I have to pay back my debt before I can once more run up my spending to the amount of $ cc companies will allow me to spend. It irritates me to no end that the government (as always) has different rules they must adhere to (read: anything goes) than the average person.

Also, they always want to cut NEEDS, but not wants. Citizens NEED their social security (that they've paid into their entire working lives and so is rightfully theirs) and SNAP benefits. Government DOESN'T need to be passing more tax cuts to the ultra wealthy or to fund a genocide, yet it does both. Poor money management shouldn't be rewarded with more money.
