Oct. 31: Trump vows to “protect” women whether they like it or not … Another woman accuses Trump of physical attack … Report: Trump gave Netanyahu a deadline for Israel to stop defending itself … Musk ordered in court today …
You can listen to the TFN podcast here.
On the same day yet another woman came forward with credible claims of suffering a sexual assault by pre-President Donald Trump, he said at a rally in Wisconsin last night that he is going to “protect” women “whether the women like it or not.”
It was in the context of his usual fear-mongering about migrants. Migrants, Trump said, coming from “insane asylums and mental institutions,” from Venezuela and “the Congo, including savage criminals who assault, rape, and murder our women and girls.”
It is, of course, a basket of deplorable, racist tropes about Black people and immigrants. And, yes, immigrants — even those without documentation — commit crimes at a lower rate than Americans do.
But last night Trump added the paternalistic, misogynistic, pandering, infantilizing male phobia about sexual violence committed by that most loathsome of predators, someone who’s not them.
Trump and his party, of course, have time and again opposed legal protections against domestic, good, old-fashioned American violence aimed at women and girls.
Trump-advisors Trump-advised him not to Trump-say what he said last night. And so, like a man without impulse control, he not only said it anyway, he described the Trump-advice he was ignoring:
My people told me about four weeks ago — I would say, “No, I want to protect the people. I want to protect the women of our country. I want to protect the women.”
“Sir, please don’t say that.”
“Why?”
They said, “We think it’s, we think it’s very inappropriate for you to say.”
I say, “Why? I’m president1, I want to protect the women of our country.”
They said [pauses for cheers], they said, “Sir, I just think it’s inappropriate for you to say.” I pay these guys a lot of money [accompanied by “canya believe it?” face and gesture].
I said, “Well, I’m gonna do it whether the women like it or not. I’m gonna protect them. I’m gonna protect them from migrants coming in. I’m gonna protect them from foreign countries that wanna hit us, hit us with missiles and lots of other things.”
[Digression about ISIS and the military]
So I said, “I’m going to defend, and I’m going to protect women. I’m not going to let people go up to the suburbs or go into places where they live, whether suburbs or cities or farms. We’re going to protect our women. At the border, we’re going to protect our women. And also, we’re going to protect our men and our children. We’re going to protect everybody.”
He then gestured to a group of women in the audience and said, “Look how beautiful they are. And they’re all happily married.”
The campaign of Vice Pres. Kamala Harris responded to Trump’s Wisconsin remarks by saying, “In Wisconsin, Trump reminds women how little he values their choices.”
The white male protector standing between American womanly virtue and ravening others is, of course, a noxious concept that’s been used against ravening and unravening others alike, as well as against women and girls, whatever their nationality or background. It also happens to be bullshit.
It was under then-Pres. Trump that Republicans — including Sen. Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) — killed an expansion of the Violence Against Women Act that would have made it harder for abusive boyfriends to get guns. One abuser then killed a Houston police sergeant.
And Trump’s remarks about protecting women — as he sees fit, against enemies of his choosing, “whether women like it not” — came the same day yet another woman came forward to talk about the dangers of Trump crossing the border of your personal space.
Fifty-three-year-old Swiss banker Beatrice Keul says that in 1993 Trump physically attacked her, as soon as he got her in private:
“When I entered, he jumped on me. I just had time to turn. I was not prepared. I tried to do what I could to get rid of him… He kissed me on the lips and on the neck. He tried to lift my dress. He was grabbing and touching my body everywhere he could.”
At 6”1’, Keul believes her size helped fight him off. And she tried to stay cool and get him talking. “When you are with sick people you have to stay calm.”
Trump’s campaign denies the story. But as will be repeated from now until well after it appears in his obituary, Trump was found by a jury to have raped writer E. Jean Carroll.
Trump, of course, is responsible not just for individual violence against women, but the largest wholesale systemic assault on women in modern American history: Appointing Christian theocrats to the right-wing Supreme Court to kill the right to bodily autonomy.
Trump has incoherently said that if he’s re-elected, women won’t care what he’s done to them because they won’t be “thinking about abortion.”
He has also amplified Republican attacks on Harris’s success, falsely attributing it to her having sex with people, a notion reinforced in Sunday’s rally by a speaker who referred to her “pimp handlers.”
As TFN spotlighted on Tuesday, Team Trump has attempted to associate Vice Pres. Kamala Harris with the word “c--t.” Trump supporters in Ohio put up a billboard that depicted Harris on her knees, with her mouth open.
Former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) has warned that Trump’s approach will cost him women voters. And pollsters couldn’t immediately estimate how many votes it will cost Trump among his incel supporters if they stay home on Election Day wanking to their next president.
Report: Trump Will Prevent Israel from Defending Itself
Two unnamed sources tell The Times of Israel that former Pres. Donald Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel must end the war in Gaza before Trump takes office.
Obviously, the war can keep going if Trump loses because then who gives a shit.
The news shouldn’t come as too exciting for Palestinians, or their U.S. allies. That’s because Trump reportedly has been agnostic about how Israel ends the war. Meaning, Trump doesn’t give a shit if Netanyahu wraps things up by flattening everything still left standing. And Trump has said he’d impose fewer restrictions on how Israel ends the war.
As long as it doesn’t conflict with Inauguration Day.
And Trump has also reportedly said that the hostages must be freed…by the time he’s in office. He warned this summer that anyone holding American hostages (because who gives a shit about Israelis) will “pay a very big price.”
The Times of Israel reports that one Israeli official and one former Trump White House official say that Trump first gave Netanyahu his new war calendar at their Mar-a-Lago meeting in July. It’s not clear whether the Trump timeline includes Lebanon now that Israel is having a war there, too.
Also, the U.S. official reportedly said Trump’s ultimatum doesn’t mean the Israeli Defense Forces have to actually leave Gaza. The war just has to be “officially” over. Y’know. On paper!
Netanyahu, meanwhile, reportedly refused this week to end the war even after Hamas offered to release all its remaining 101 hostages. Because the war to free the hostages must continue, even if it means passing on an offer to free the hostages.
Economic Indicators Endorse Harris for President
More good news for Vice Pres. Kamala Harris’s campaign on the economic front.
U.S. gross domestic product rose by an annualized rate of 2.8% in the third quarter, powered by strong consumer spending.
ADP estimates that the economy added 233,000 new jobs in October, the highest numbers in a year and way more than expected given two hurricanes killing people and fucking with shit.
And gas prices are falling.
The national average is now $3.07/gallon, after two weeks of slumping prices, and could dip below that mind-fuck $3/gallon threshold soon, reportedly.
All of which might help explain why former Pres. Donald Trump’s strongest issue is becoming less strong. The economy is the number-one issue among voters, a fact that baffles media who think all these economic indicators fully capture life in these economic states.
And Trump has the edge among voters when it comes to who they think will handle the economy best. (Never mind that the brilliont mind of Elon Musk confirmed this week that Trump’s economic plans will devastate us.)
But Trump’s edge is shrinking like he was in the pool. He had a 13-point margin over Harris on economic issues in mid-September. That’s now been cut in half.
Musk Ordered to Appear in Court Today
Guess who’s been ordered to self-drive his criminal ass to a Philadelphia courtroom today? Oh, wait, the name’s right there in the headline. Dammit.
Judge Angelo Foglietta yesterday ordered billionaire Elon Musk to show up in court today — along with everyone else involved, as if billionaires were people, too! — for a hearing on Musk’s illegal vote-buying. (h/t)
Earlier this week, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner sued Musk’s political action committee for giving away money to reward people for registering to vote, which is a federal crime, but also violates state lottery laws. And Krasner has not taken criminal charges off the table.
Krasner is asking the judge to heighten protections for his office because of threats and doxxing which are appearing online…on Musk’s social media platform.
ALSO Workers for Musk’s PAC, America™ tell Wired magazine they were deceived and exploited by the PAC’s subcontractor. The job? Getting out the vote for Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance (R-OH)!
Remember TFN dutifully ratted out Musk’s PAC for using a subcontractor and paid workers, instead of true-believer volunteers? Turns out the workers didn’t even know what they were signing on to do.
And they were threatened with having to pay for their lodging if they didn’t meet their quotas when Musk’s subcontractor shipped them out to wherever-the-hell to pretend to get Trump voters to vote for him.
This is the kind of shit that very much incentivizes workers to pretend they were doing door-knocking.
And their transportation? They had to ride in the back…of a U-Haul van. At least it wasn’t a Cybertruck™.
House GOP Seeks Cuomo Prosecution
The House Covid subcommittee may finally have found a Democrat to prosecute that everyone can agree on.
The subcommittee yesterday asked the Dept. of Justice to consider prosecuting former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) for lying to Congress. Not for all the women-abusing, obviously, as Cuomo’s not from Congo.
Democrats didn’t sign off on the prosecution referral, suggesting there’s — gasp! — partisan shit going on here. But, in fairness, even a mad dog sometimes bites the right person. And Republicans may have found the one issue capable of uniting the country.
And there’s evidence that this is a valid complaint. Cuomo testified before Congress that he wasn’t familiar with a state report on the 2020 nursing-home deaths from Covid in New York.
Which is weird because last month the New York Times revealed that Cuomo wrote part of it, and reviewed all of it. Cuomo’s people — he still has people? — told the Times that Cuomo testified to the subcommittee that he didn’t recall, which is probably also a lie but much tougher to prove.

The Hollow Man: Trump’s Sad Little Masquerade of Manhood
Behind the bluster and red hats lies a brittle brand of masculinity—a hollow charade that cloaks cowardice, denial, and failure.
